Hi there! 

My name is Samantha Underwood, and I’m the Seattle-based artist behind Samun Arts!

I am an advocate for joy – both celebrating it and sharing it with others. 

I choose to share my joy through art. 

Though my appreciation for art has been a common thread in my life, my own journey as an artist wound in an unexpected trajectory, taking me from studies in Human Biology and Society at UCLA to a masters in Communications from the University of Washington. I grew a deepened appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of art and science, and thus grew into my own creativity. 

My work draws inspiration from classic children’s book illustrations, evoking a sense of whimsy, nostalgia, and wonder. I love blending these timeless qualities with quirky, modern touches to create pieces that are both playful and uplifting.
